I am licensed to perform marriages in most states including New York State.
I have been married for 29 years and have two children. I strongly believe in the sanctity of marriage. I have a strong marriage, although it hasn’t always been blissful. I was raised in an Italian Roman Catholic family and I believe that there are two key elements that make for a happy marriage, love & loyalty.
It t is for those two reasons that I will join together any two people who are willing to commit to a lifetime of sharing love together.
I am not opposed to same sex marriage, but I am opposed to that term. Marriage is about love, and not sex.
If two people of the same sex wish to marry, it is still a marriage of the heart, and not a “same sex” marriage.
As an American citizen, any two people in a committed relationship of intimacy should entitled to protections under the statutes of The Constitution of The United States of America.
The government can not force spouses to testify against each in a court of law. This applies to couples legally married, as well as those living in Common Law. Same sex couples are entitled to all Constitutional protections as any other couple that holds American citizenship. Anyone who opposes “same sex marriages” is in my opinion, un-American.
Churches that do not recognize same sex marriages have the right to do so. One can always change their religion, but we can’t change our birthplace, and therefore The Constitution is for every American.
This should not be an issue to be voted on. I strongly believe in separation of state and church.
